We work in 100 languages. The ones requested most are Spanish, Russian, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic and Czech; for anything else, ask. Sedgwick County records and courts
Wichita is the seat of Sedgwick County, the 18th Judicial District. Marriage records recorded in the county and divorces granted there are kept by the district court, which can supply full case records and certified documents. Certified marriage and divorce certificates, like birth and death certificates, come from the state Office of Vital Statistics in Topeka, which Sedgwick County notes will not give out information from records by phone or email.

Translations for court and for USCIS
The Kansas Judicial Branch does not currently certify court interpreters. It offers an orientation course and says the completion certificate is not a certification, although certification from another state counts as evidence of qualifications. Written translations are a separate matter: if you are filing a foreign-language document in the 18th Judicial District or in federal court in Wichita, ask the clerk or your attorney what the judge will require.
For immigration filings, 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requires any document containing foreign language to come with a full English translation that the translator certifies as complete and accurate, plus the translator’s certification of competence in both languages. Our certificate of accuracy covers those points. Your USCIS appointment or interview notice gives the address of the office handling your case.
Wichita State University transcript rules
Wichita State University’s international undergraduate admissions page states that original transcripts not in English must be accompanied by an official translation in the same format, with an original stamp or signature of a qualified translator. Translations prepared by the student are not accepted.
The same page says an official transcript must carry an original stamp or signature of a school official, a ministry of education or foreign affairs, another government authority or EducationUSA, and that documents stamped ‘Issued to student’ are not accepted. For most countries, attestation by a notary public is not accepted either. Because WSU asks for an original stamp or signature, ask its admissions office whether it needs the translation delivered on paper.

Notarized translations and 'notario' rules in Kansas
The Secretary of State will apostille a foreign-language document if it was notarized by a Kansas notary and the notarization is in English. When a translation needs to be notarized for Kansas, we hire a notary commissioned in Kansas to notarize the translator’s statement.
A notary is not a legal adviser. K.S.A. 53-5a25 says a Kansas notary commission does not permit giving legal advice or acting as an immigration consultant, and a notary who is not a Kansas attorney may not advertise using ‘notario’ or ‘notario publico’.
