Apostilles when you live in St. George
Utah issues apostilles from one place, the Lieutenant Governor’s Authentications office in the State Capitol in Salt Lake City. From St. George the practical choices are mail and the state’s online ordering platform.
For mail, the office asks you to submit the request online, then send the original documents with the printed order form, payment and a self-addressed envelope. The state fee is $5 per document and processing typically takes 1 to 3 business days after receipt, not counting transit. Courier packages go to 350 North State Street, Suite 220, Salt Lake City, UT 84114, and USPS mail to PO Box 142325. If you prefer to go in person, appointments cost $20 per document.
Translations reach that office as notarized documents, and it does not authenticate notarizations performed by notaries from other states. So when a translation is headed for a Utah apostille, we hire a notary commissioned in Utah to notarize the translator’s statement. The office says it neither translates documents nor requires them to be in English. The foreign authority sets that rule.

Utah Tech University credit for study abroad
Utah Tech University requires graduate applicants, and undergraduates who want to transfer credit from an institution outside the United States, to have official transcripts evaluated by a professional credential evaluation company. It recommends World Education Services or any member of NACES.
The university says the evaluation report may take 2 to 3 months and that its registrar needs at least 30 more days. It also asks for course descriptions or syllabi, translated to English if required. Plan translations early so they do not add to that wait.
Courts and federal filings
The state courthouse for Washington County is at 206 West Tabernacle in St. George. The U.S. District Court for the District of Utah also lists a St. George location, although all of its district judges are based in Salt Lake City and court records are kept there.
Utah state courts appoint interpreters for hearings. Translating documents for a case is up to the parties, so confirm the format with the clerk.
For USCIS, 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requires that a foreign-language document be accompanied by a full English translation, certified complete and accurate, and by the translator’s certification of competence.
