The apostille office is in downtown Denver

Denver has one practical advantage over every other Colorado city: the Colorado Secretary of State’s apostille office is here, at 1700 Broadway, Suite 550, Denver, CO 80290. That means you can hand-deliver documents instead of mailing them.

The office’s request form lists $5 per apostille for mail-in or drop-off service and $15 per apostille for expedited walk-in service. For documents hand-delivered before 4:30 p.m. the office attempts same-day processing, though it warns that you may need to come back when demand is heavy. Bring the original document, the completed request form and a check or money order, because cards are not accepted. Nothing is processed on weekends or holidays.

The document needs a Colorado notary’s original signature, a Colorado Vital Records certification or a Colorado county clerk’s certification. It may be in another language, but the notary’s statement must be in English. We can have our translator’s statement notarized, but that is done in Oregon and is not a Colorado notarization, so check with the receiving authority whether the apostille belongs on the Colorado record or on the translation before you plan the trip to Broadway.

Denver courts and interpreters

Denver is its own county and its own judicial district, the 2nd. Denver District Court hears civil and domestic matters in the Denver City and County Building, 1437 Bannock Street, Denver, CO 80202, and criminal matters in the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse, 520 West Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80204.

Denver County Court is run separately. It says it provides access in over 140 spoken languages, has Spanish interpreters available daily without a formal request, and asks for requests in other languages at least 5 days before the hearing. In the state courts, interpreters are provided at no cost to parties under Chief Justice Directive 06-03.

Court interpreters interpret speech in the courtroom. Neither court publishes a rule on the page we reviewed about translating documents you want to file, so ask the clerk or your attorney what the judge expects for a foreign-language exhibit.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado sits in Denver at the Alfred A. Arraj Courthouse, 901 19th Street, and the Byron G. Rogers Courthouse, 1929 Stout Street.

Translations for immigration filings from Denver

For USCIS, the rule is federal and the same in Denver as anywhere else. Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), any document containing a foreign language must come with a full English translation that the translator has certified as complete and accurate, along with the translator’s certification of competence to translate into English. Our certificate of accuracy is written to that rule. We cannot promise how any officer or agency will treat a filing.

The Consulate General of Mexico in Denver is at 5350 Leetsdale Drive, Denver, CO 80246. Consulates set their own rules for translations into their language, so check with the consulate before ordering.

Denver universities and translated transcripts

  • University of Denver. The graduate bulletin states that certified English translations must accompany all transcripts, except those from institutions that issue documents in English, and that errors or omissions in a translation may be grounds for refusal or dismissal.
  • Sturm College of Law. LLM applicants with coursework outside the U.S. or Canada send transcripts through LSAC, which handles translation and evaluation for the Credential Assembly Service report.
  • CU Denver. Graduate applicants whose transcript is not in English must provide a certified English translation, and an international credential evaluation report is required for anyone who attended an institution outside the United States.
  • MSU Denver. International applicants are asked for professional certified English translations with their secondary and university credentials.

Ordering a Denver translation

Upload a scan or photo through the quote form in PDF, JPEG, PNG or Word format. We confirm the price and delivery date, translate, and send back the certified translation by email or by mail. Call (971) 514-3743 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with questions.

If the translation is for the Colorado DMV, say so. The DMV wants the translator’s affirmation on the same page as the translation, together with the translator’s driver’s license or ID number and state of issuance.

The languages we are asked for most are Spanish, Russian, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic and Czech, out of 100 offered. Ask about any other language. For context, the 2024 American Community Survey one-year estimates, as published by Census Reporter, put Denver’s population at 729,019, with 16.1 percent born outside the United States.
