What the Snohomish County courts publish on language access

The Snohomish County Courts Language Access Plan, effective January 1, 2026, ranks the languages most often requested for interpreters. For Superior and Juvenile Court the order is Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Chinese-Mandarin and Arabic. For District Court it is Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Punjabi and Chinese-Mandarin.

To ask for a Superior Court interpreter, the plan gives SSC-Interpreter@snoco.org and 425-388-3459. District Court uses SDCInterpreterSupport@snoco.org and 425-388-3893. The plan refers to court forms already translated into Korean, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog and Simplified Chinese. An interpreter covers what is said in court. If you plan to file a document written in another language, ask the clerk what form of English translation the court expects.

From Everett to a Washington apostille

A record issued in Everett that is going to another country may need an apostille, and that is done by the Washington Secretary of State, not by the county. According to the Secretary of State, vital records must be the original or a certified copy, and personal documents must be notarized by a Washington notary.

  • Step 1. Get the certified copy from the Rucker Avenue or Rockefeller Avenue counter listed above.
  • Step 2. Complete the Apostille Authentication Request Form. The fee is $15.00 per document, payable to the Secretary of State.
  • Step 3. Mail it to the Corporations and Charities Division, PO Box 40234, Olympia, WA 98504-0234. Standard requests are typically processed in 7 to 10 business days; a $100 expedite fee per 10 documents brings that to 2 to 3 business days.
  • In person. Same-day service costs an extra $150 for the first 10 documents at 243 Israel Rd SE, Tumwater, or at the Cheney office.

What a certified translation includes

You receive the full English or foreign language text laid out to follow the source, and a certificate of accuracy signed by the translator. For USCIS, 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) calls for a complete English translation with the translator’s certification of accuracy and competence. Other agencies set their own rules, so check theirs before ordering.
