Henderson at a glance

Census Bureau QuickFacts puts Henderson’s July 2025 population at 353,289. In the 2020 to 2024 survey period, 19.0 percent of residents age 5 and older spoke a language other than English at home and 14.3 percent of residents were foreign born.

Where Henderson records come from

Birth and death certificates for events in Clark County are issued by the Southern Nevada Health District, whose Vital Records office is at 280 S. Decatur Blvd. It covers births from 1973 and deaths from 1988, charges $38 for the first certificate and $25 for each added copy, and sends certificates by First Class Mail. Older records come from the Nevada Office of Vital Records in Carson City.

Marriage certificates are held by the Clark County Clerk, 200 Lewis Avenue, 5th Floor, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Certified copies are listed at $20 each and can be ordered online, by mail or in person.

Nevada notaries are not allowed to certify photocopies of birth, death or marriage certificates or divorce decrees (NRS 240.075). Start from a certified copy issued by the office above, then send us a scan of it to translate.

Nevada State University and foreign transcripts

Nevada State University, at 1300 Nevada State Drive, Henderson, NV 89002, tells transfer applicants with coursework from non-U.S. or non-English-speaking institutions to have their documents evaluated course by course and translated into English through an approved evaluating agency. The evaluation is then sent directly to the university.

Because the university routes this through an evaluating agency, check with that agency whether it wants its own translation or will accept one you supply before you order.

Getting a Nevada apostille from Henderson

Henderson has no apostille counter of its own. The Nevada Secretary of State issues every Nevada apostille, charging $20 per authentication under NRS 240.1657. Its main office is at 101 N. Carson Street, Suite 3, Carson City, NV 89701, and a state document lists a southern Nevada office at 2250 Las Vegas Blvd North, Suite 400, North Las Vegas, NV 89030.

The Secretary of State’s apostille pages give the current form, expedite options and submission rules. Under the statute, a document that was not notarized in line with Nevada notary law will not be authenticated.

If your translation must be notarized for that apostille, we hire a notary commissioned in Nevada to notarize the translator’s statement. We can also assist with the apostille filing.

Rules that differ by agency

  • USCIS. 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) calls for a full English translation certified by the translator as complete and accurate, with a statement of the translator’s competence.
  • Nevada DMV. Only a DMV-approved translator’s work is accepted, and it must show the translator’s DMV number. Use the DMV list for license paperwork.
  • District court. The Eighth Judicial District Court serves Clark County. Its Language Access Plan says interpreters are free for people with limited English.
  • Legal advice. Under NRS 240.085 a Nevada notary who is not an attorney may not advertise as a ‘notario publico’. Translators and notaries cannot advise you on which immigration form to file.
