The Utah apostille office is in Salt Lake City

Utah apostilles come from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, and its Authentications office sits in the State Capitol at 350 North State Street, Suite 220. For someone in Salt Lake City that means the in-person option is in your own city, although the office says it does not take walk-ins and you need to book an appointment.

In-person requests are listed at $20 per document, plus $5 for each additional document from the same signer, and take from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Mail-in requests are $5 per document and typically take 1 to 3 business days after receipt. USPS mail goes to PO Box 142325, Salt Lake City, UT 84114. The office warns that USPS mail is delayed by state security processing and suggests FedEx, UPS or its online ordering instead.

The office will not authenticate a document notarized by an out-of-state notary. If a translation must be notarized for a Utah apostille, we hire a notary commissioned in Utah to notarize the translator’s statement. The Lieutenant Governor’s office does not translate documents and does not require an English translation, so the need for one comes from the country receiving your papers.
