What Chandler Municipal Court publishes about language

Chandler Municipal Court, 200 E. Chicago Street, Chandler, AZ 85225, publishes a Language Access Plan. It lists the languages for which interpreters are most often needed: Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), American Sign Language, Vietnamese and Arabic.

Under the plan, court interpreters are provided in all courtroom proceedings at no cost to limited English proficient litigants, witnesses, victims, and parents, guardians and family members. The court also keeps vital forms in Spanish, including civil traffic hearing information, records requests and public defender requests.

Those services cover the court’s own proceedings and forms. If you need to hand the court a document written in another language, ask the court or your attorney how it wants the translation prepared.

  • Justice courts. Across the street from the municipal court, 201 E. Chicago Street houses four Maricopa County justice courts: Kyrene, San Marcos, San Tan and University Lakes. The precinct for the address involved decides which court hears a matter.
  • Marriage licenses. The Clerk of the Superior Court lists four main in-person locations. The one in the East Valley is the Southeast Regional Court Center, 222 E. Javelina, Mesa, AZ 85210. Arizona residents can also apply through the Clerk’s online marriage license program.

Chandler-Gilbert Community College and foreign transcripts

Chandler-Gilbert Community College has its Pecos Campus at 2626 East Pecos Road, Chandler, AZ 85225. Its international admissions pages say it is the student’s responsibility to have transcripts translated into English and evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service.

The college states that English translations must be certified by a professional translator and include the translator’s signature or stamp. It refers students to evaluation agencies that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, and adds that the Maricopa County Community College District does not recommend any one agency over another.

Translation and evaluation are two separate steps. We provide the certified translation; the credential evaluation is done by the agency you choose, so check that agency’s own translation rules before ordering.
