Gilbert Municipal Court and the county justice courts
Gilbert Municipal Court is at 55 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85296. Its published hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and its main line, (480) 635-7800, is also listed as the Spanish language line.
The court posts a Language Access Plan tied to Title VI, with the stated aim of providing timely and reasonable language assistance to people with limited English proficiency. The plan’s page includes a Spanish version of the court’s commitment to access.
Maricopa County justice courts handle matters by precinct. The East Valley courts sit at two sites: 222 E. Javelina Ave. in Mesa (East Mesa, Highland, North Mesa and West Mesa) and 201 E. Chicago Street in Chandler (Kyrene, San Marcos, San Tan and University Lakes). Your case paperwork names the court.
Language assistance at a court does not translate your own exhibits. Before submitting a foreign-language document, ask the court clerk or your lawyer what kind of translation is expected.
School and college documents
Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the Maricopa community college named for both communities, tells international applicants that they are responsible for having transcripts translated into English and evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service. Its page says translations must be certified by a professional translator and carry the translator’s signature or stamp.
Arizona State University asks for an English translation in addition to the original language record, not in place of it. ASU also says a student may not translate their own documents and that translations certified by a notary public are not acceptable.
Requirements differ between schools, so send us the school’s instructions with your upload and we will follow them.

Arizona apostille: the path from Gilbert
When a document is going to another country, the receiving authority may ask for an apostille. In Arizona that comes from the Secretary of State, whose page says an apostille or certificate of authentication certifies an Arizona notary public, court clerk or state document custodian.
Step one is getting the right original: the office requires the original notarized or certified recorded document, and photocopies are refused. Step two is the Apostille/Certificate of Authentication Request form with the $3 per document fee. Step three is choosing mail or walk-in.
By mail, send everything with return postage to Secretary of State, Attn: Apostille Dept., 1700 W. Washington Street, Fl. 7, Phoenix, AZ 85007-2808; the posted processing time is 10 to 20 business days. In person, the Phoenix counter is in the State Capitol Executive Tower, 1700 W. Washington Street, Suite 220, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm except holidays, with a $25.00 walk-in expedite fee and a 6-document limit.
Documents issued in another state must be certified by that state, and Arizona does not provide electronic apostilles. Tell us the destination country when you order and we can help you plan the apostille step alongside the translation.
