Apostille Service in Frisco, Texas
Apostille Request Form
Frisco has become a landing spot for corporate headquarters and national sports organizations, and that brings a steady flow of people who need their Texas paperwork recognized overseas. A transferring executive, a foreign hire bringing a spouse, or a family moving abroad for an assignment will usually be asked for an apostille on documents such as a birth certificate, marriage record, or degree.
Apostille Authentications handles that step for Frisco clients remotely. You send us your originals by mail or courier, we review them, prepare the request, and file it with the Texas Secretary of State in Austin. We have no storefront in Frisco or anywhere else in Texas; the whole service runs by shipment, which means you never have to drive to Austin yourself.
One detail makes Frisco different from most Texas cities: it sits on a county line. Before anything else, you need to know whether your record came from Collin County or Denton County.
Frisco Straddles Two Counties: Which Clerk Holds Your Record?
The City of Frisco’s own newcomer guide lists county services for both Collin County and Denton County. Roughly speaking, the eastern part of the city falls in Collin and the western part in Denton, but the address on your record (or the hospital where a child was born) is what decides it. Certified copies must come from the county that recorded the event, or from the state.
| Record type | If it was recorded in Collin County | If it was recorded in Denton County |
|---|---|---|
| Birth or death certificate, marriage license | County Clerk, 2300 Bloomdale Rd., McKinney, TX 75071. Phone (972) 548-4185. Weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | County Clerk’s Frisco branch, 5533 FM 423, Suite 301, Frisco, TX 75036. Phone 972-434-3900. Weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. |
| Divorce decree, name change, other court orders | District Clerk, 2100 Bloomdale Rd., Suite 12132, McKinney, TX 75071. Phone (972) 548-4320. | District Clerk, 1450 E. McKinney St., 1st Floor, Denton, TX 76209. Phone 940-349-2200. |
The Denton County branch on FM 423 is a genuine convenience for west Frisco families, because it is one of six County Clerk locations that serve walk-in vital records customers. Collin County’s records, by contrast, are issued from McKinney; the county also lists a Plano office, but its website has posted a flood-related closure notice for that location, so call ahead before going.
Both counties also take orders online. Denton County uses its Birth and Death Certificate page to link to a mail-in form and online portal, and Collin County explains its options on the County Clerk birth certificate page.
Relocations Tied to Frisco's Headquarters and Sports Teams
Frisco’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan names corporate offices such as Keurig Dr Pepper, Addus HomeCare, Careington International, and the HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement, and it mentions T-Mobile among the city’s major employers. The Frisco Economic Development Corporation points to the PGA of America headquarters, which opened in August 2022, along with the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, FC Dallas, the National Soccer Hall of Fame, and the Southland Conference.
That mix produces a few recurring document situations:
- Outbound transfers. An employee assigned to a foreign office often needs an apostilled birth certificate and marriage certificate for a residence permit, plus apostilled birth certificates for children enrolling in school abroad.
- International hires and athletes. Someone who arrived in Frisco from overseas may need a Texas marriage certificate or a child’s Texas birth certificate apostilled so their home country will register the event.
- Company documents. Businesses opening a subsidiary or bank account abroad are commonly asked for apostilled certificates of formation, certificates of good standing, or notarized resolutions and powers of attorney.
- Background checks. Work visas in many countries call for an FBI Identity History Summary, which follows a separate federal route described below.
If your HR or relocation provider gave you a checklist, send it with your order. Different consulates word their requirements differently, and the list tells us exactly which records need to be authenticated.
Diplomas and Transcripts from Frisco Schools and Colleges
Education records are the other big category. Frisco is served mainly by Frisco ISD, with parts of the city in Lewisville, Little Elm, and Prosper ISDs, according to the city’s resident guide. Graduates heading abroad for university or a teaching job may need a high school diploma or transcript apostilled.
At the college level, Collin College’s Preston Ridge Campus sits at 9700 Wade Boulevard in Frisco, and the University of North Texas operates a Frisco campus as well. A diploma or transcript usually cannot be apostilled exactly as issued; Texas needs a notary’s signature or a public official’s signature to authenticate. The normal fix is for the registrar to sign a statement before a notary, or for a notarized copy to be prepared in the format the destination country accepts. We will tell you which approach fits your document before anything is filed.
Texas Secretary of State Fees and Processing
Every Texas-issued public document is authenticated by the Authentications Unit of the Texas Secretary of State. Here are the figures that apply to a Frisco order:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Issuing office | Authentications Unit, Texas Secretary of State, 400 West 15th Street, Austin, TX 78701 |
| State fee | $15 for each document |
| Our service fee | $195 for each document, added to the $15 state fee |
| State timing by mail | Up to two weeks after the office receives the request |
| State timing in person | Same day; walk-ins on Mondays and Fridays, appointments Tuesday through Thursday |
| State request form | Form 2102 |
Our total turnaround depends on shipping, the state’s queue, and whether the document is ready to file, so we do not promise a fixed delivery date. The pricing page breaks down costs for multiple documents.
How Frisco Clients Send Documents to Us
- Get a fresh certified copy. Order it from the correct county clerk listed above, or from Texas Vital Statistics (DSHS). On a DSHS application, put “Apostille” as the reason you are requesting the record.
- Check the destination country. Confirm it belongs to the Hague Apostille Convention using our country guide.
- Contact us for a review. Email a scan or call so we can spot problems such as an uncertified photocopy or a missing notary seal.
- Ship the originals. Use a trackable mail or courier service and include the return address where you want the finished apostille delivered.
- We file with Austin. We prepare the paperwork for the Secretary of State, pay the state fee, and send the apostilled documents back to you.
Our main Texas apostille service page covers the same process for clients across the state.
Records That Need a Different Route
Not every request ends with a Texas apostille:
- FBI background checks are federal documents. They are apostilled by the U.S. Department of State, not by Austin. See our FBI apostille service for how that works.
- Countries outside the Hague Convention, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, do not accept apostilles. They require embassy legalization, which adds steps after state authentication.
- Translations may be required by the receiving agency once the apostille is attached.
Frisco Apostille Questions
My child was born at a hospital in Frisco. Which county issues the birth certificate?
It depends on which side of the Collin-Denton county line the hospital is on. If you are unsure, you can order from Texas Vital Statistics (DSHS) instead, which holds birth records from every Texas county. Either a county-issued or state-issued certified copy can be apostilled.
Can I pick up a Denton County record in Frisco instead of driving to Denton?
Yes. Denton County lists a County Clerk branch at 5533 FM 423, Suite 301, in Frisco, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Denton County says birth and death records are available in person at all six of its clerk locations.
My company is moving me overseas. Which documents usually need an apostille?
Residence permit applications commonly ask for apostilled birth and marriage certificates, and schools abroad may want apostilled birth certificates for children. Some countries also ask for an FBI background check, which is apostilled federally. Your relocation checklist or the consulate will have the exact list.
Do you have an office in Frisco where I can drop off documents?
No. Apostille Authentications does not have an office in Frisco or elsewhere in Texas. Frisco clients mail or courier their documents to us, and we submit them to the Texas Secretary of State.
How much does a Texas apostille cost through your service?
Our fee is $195 per document, plus the Texas Secretary of State fee of $15 per document. Shipping and any county fees for certified copies are separate.
