Apostille Service in The Woodlands, Texas
Apostille Request Form
The Woodlands was founded in 1974 as a planned community, and it has since become a base for energy, chemical and life-science companies with operations around the world. It is governed by The Woodlands Township rather than a city council, and it straddles two counties: most of it lies in Montgomery County, while Creekside Park Village extends into Harris County.
That mix of global employers and split county lines makes document authentication a little more involved here than in most suburbs. Apostille Authentications helps Woodlands residents and companies prepare papers for use abroad and files them with the Texas Secretary of State. We work remotely by mail and courier; we have no office in The Woodlands.
Energy and Chemical Headquarters Drive Much of the Demand
What began as a bedroom community now hosts a long list of corporate campuses. Sources describing the community name these employers among others:
- Chevron Phillips Chemical, which opened its new global headquarters at 9500 Lakeside Blvd. in July 2025
- Occidental Petroleum, including the former Anadarko campus and its towers
- Huntsman Corporation
- Baker Hughes and Halliburton
- Woodforest National Bank, McKesson Specialty Health and Lexicon Pharmaceuticals
ExxonMobil’s campus sits just to the south. Professionals at companies like these regularly take postings in the Middle East, Europe, South America and Asia. Their legal teams also deal with foreign subsidiaries, distributor agreements and overseas bank accounts.
Documents we see from this kind of work include:
- Notarized powers of attorney authorizing a local agent abroad
- Board resolutions and officer certificates
- Certificates of formation or good standing issued in Texas
- Employee diplomas and marriage certificates for work and dependent visas
Many energy destinations, such as Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE, are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention. Papers bound for those countries need embassy legalization rather than an apostille, and we can explain how that works for your document.
Montgomery or Harris? Find the Right Records Office
Your address decides which county keeps your vital records and court files. Most villages are in Montgomery County; Creekside Park residents generally deal with Harris County. The Township’s county services page has an address lookup if you are unsure.
| Record type | Montgomery County side | Harris County side (Creekside Park) |
|---|---|---|
| Birth and death certificates, marriage records | County Clerk Vital Statistics, 210 West Davis, Conroe, TX 77301 · (936) 539-7885 · Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. | Harris County Clerk, Cypresswood Annex, 6831 Cypresswood Dr., Spring, TX 77379 · (832) 927-7290 |
| Divorce decrees and district court orders | Montgomery County District Clerk, at the courthouse, 301 N. Main St., Conroe · (936) 539-7855 | Harris County District Clerk, Family Intake, 201 Caroline, Suite 210, Houston · (832) 927-5700 |
Montgomery County also takes vital-record orders online through its ordering portal; online birth certificates are limited to people born in Texas, and death records to deaths in Montgomery County. On the Harris side, check the County Clerk’s office list for current hours. Statewide birth certificates are also available from Texas Vital Statistics; choose “Apostille” as the reason.
Degrees and Transcripts From Woodlands Schools
Education records make up a large share of personal requests. Local options include:
- Lone Star College, whose system office is at 5000 Research Forest Drive and whose Creekside Center and University Center serve The Woodlands
- Sam Houston State University–The Woodlands Center
- Our Lady of the Lake University‘s Houston-area campus in The Woodlands
- High schools in Conroe ISD (most of the Montgomery County portion), Magnolia ISD (May Valley) and Tomball ISD (Creekside Park)
For any of these, the registrar typically signs a statement before a notary, or issues a certified copy, so the Secretary of State has an official signature to authenticate. A degree from a university in another state has to be apostilled in that state instead.
Relocating With Family? Plan the Dependent Documents
An overseas assignment rarely involves only the employee. Spouses and children usually need their own residence permits, and each permit comes with its own document list. It helps to gather everything at once so you are not ordering certificates piecemeal from two counties.
A typical family package might include:
- The employee’s degree or professional certificate, notarized by the school or certifying body
- A certified marriage certificate from the county where the license was issued
- Certified birth certificates for each child, ideally the long form
- An FBI background check, if the destination asks for one
- Custody orders or travel consent letters where only one parent is relocating
Children born at different hospitals may have records in different places. A child born in Montgomery County has a record there, while one born in Houston would be registered on the Harris County side. Allow time for each office, and ask the employer’s relocation provider for the destination’s exact list before ordering. Our country guide shows whether each destination accepts apostilles.

Woodlands Apostille FAQ
I live in Creekside Park. Do I use Montgomery County or Harris County?
Creekside Park Village is in the Harris County part of The Woodlands, so marriage records and court files from your time there are typically with Harris County. Records follow where the event happened, though, so a marriage licensed in Conroe would still be a Montgomery County record.
Can my company’s board resolution be apostilled in Texas?
Yes, if it is signed before a Texas notary. The Secretary of State authenticates the notary’s commission. If the destination is a non-Hague country, the document goes on to embassy legalization instead.
Where do I get a birth certificate if I was born at a Woodlands hospital?
Montgomery County’s Vital Statistics office at 210 West Davis in Conroe can issue it, as can Texas Vital Statistics. Order a certified copy and list “Apostille” as the purpose when the form asks.
Does The Woodlands Township issue any records that need apostilles?
Generally no. The Township is not a city and does not keep vital records or court files; those come from the counties and the state.
Will you meet me in The Woodlands to pick up documents?
We do not have a local office. Clients in The Woodlands send documents to us by tracked mail or courier.
