Apostille Service in Lewisville, Texas
Apostille Request Form
Lewisville is a Denton County city, with some portions extending into Dallas County, and it has an advantage many suburbs do not: the Denton County Clerk runs a branch office inside the city limits. That makes the first part of an apostille request, getting a certified copy of your record, easier than it is in most places.
The second part is getting the State of Texas to authenticate that record for use in another country. Apostille Authentications takes care of that for Lewisville residents by mail and courier. We look over your documents, prepare the state request, and submit it to the Texas Secretary of State. We do not have a Lewisville office or any physical location in Texas, so you will not visit us; you send your papers and we return them with the apostille attached.
Picking Up Certified Records at the Lewisville Branch
Denton County lists six County Clerk locations that serve customers in person, and one of them is at 400 N. Valley Parkway, Suite 2094, Lewisville, TX 75067. The branch’s phone number is 972-434-4790, and the county lists weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. According to the county’s Birth and Death Certificates page, in-person birth and death record service is available at all six locations.
Here is how Denton County’s offices line up for the documents Lewisville residents most often apostille:
| You need | Office | Address and phone |
|---|---|---|
| Birth or death certificate | County Clerk, Lewisville branch | 400 N. Valley Pkwy., Suite 2094, Lewisville, TX 75067 / 972-434-4790 |
| Birth or death certificate (main office) | County Clerk, Vital Statistics | 1450 E. McKinney St., Denton, TX 76209 / 940-349-2018 |
| Divorce decree or other district court order | Denton County District Clerk | 1450 E. McKinney St., 1st Floor, Denton, TX 76209 / 940-349-2200 (metro 972-434-8822) |
The District Clerk’s directory listing does not show a branch office, so certified divorce decrees come from Denton. Requests can be made by mail to P.O. Box 2146, Denton, TX 76202. Birth and death records can also be ordered online through the county’s portal or by mailing the county’s application form.
Residents on the south side of town sometimes find the Carrollton branch at 1029 W. Rosemeade Parkway closer. If you go there, note that the county says that location does not issue birth or death records between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Records cannot be verified over the phone, so plan to order the actual certified copy rather than calling to confirm details.
If your record was created in the Dallas County part of Lewisville, request it from Dallas County instead. Its Vital Records Division is in the Records Building at 500 Elm Street, Suite 2100, in downtown Dallas, phone (214) 653-7099.
Documents Lewisville Workers and Families Send Overseas
The City of Lewisville describes itself as sitting at the geographic center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with nearly 49,000 jobs in the city. Major employers include JPMorgan Chase, Nationstar Mortgage, and Lewisville ISD. The city’s economic plan targets advanced manufacturing, biotechnology and life sciences, energy, and information technology.
A workforce like this produces a recognizable set of apostille requests:
- Notarized powers of attorney that let a relative or attorney handle property, inheritance, or banking in another country
- Birth and marriage certificates for spouse visas, residence permits, and citizenship by descent
- Divorce decrees required before remarrying abroad or updating a name on foreign records
- Professional and corporate papers for employees of companies with international affiliates
- FBI background checks for work and long-stay visas, which go through a federal channel
For notarized documents, keep in mind that the notary must be commissioned in Texas for the Texas Secretary of State to authenticate it.
Diplomas from Lewisville ISD and Nearby Universities
Lewisville ISD runs most of the public schools in the city, including Lewisville High School. The district also partners with the city and the University of North Texas on the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, a 2,600-acre preserve near the lake. Many Lewisville students go on to UNT or other universities in Denton County and beyond.
A school diploma or university transcript can be apostilled in Texas, but only after it carries a signature the state can verify. Ordinarily that means the registrar signs a statement before a notary public, or the school provides a notarized copy. Requirements also vary by destination, since some countries want the apostille on the diploma itself and others on the transcript. Send us a copy before you mail anything, and we will confirm the right format.

Exceptions: Federal Documents and Non-Member Countries
Federal records, including FBI Identity History Summaries, are apostilled by the U.S. Department of State, not by Texas; our FBI apostille service explains the process. Countries outside the Hague Convention, for example the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, do not take apostilles at all. Documents bound for those countries need embassy legalization.
