Apostille Service in Kyle, Texas

Apostille Request Form

Kyle has changed fast. A town of about 5,300 people in 2000 counted more than 45,000 residents in the 2020 census, and the newcomers include families, commuters and employees of manufacturers with ties to Asia and beyond. With that growth comes a steady need for documents that will be accepted in other countries.

An apostille is the certificate that makes a Texas public document valid in countries belonging to the Hague Apostille Convention. Apostille Authentications prepares and files apostille requests for Kyle residents and businesses by mail and courier. We do not have an office in Kyle or elsewhere in Hays County; our work is done remotely with the Texas Secretary of State in Austin. Here is a practical guide to our apostille service in Kyle, Texas.

Hays County Offices That Serve Kyle

Kyle sits in eastern Hays County, so records of births, marriages and court cases in town are kept by Hays County offices.

The County Clerk says birth and death certificates can be requested in person at any of its four locations, but its website does not list the services each substation offers, so phone the Kyle substation before you go. The substations close for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. The District Clerk’s lobby is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Texas Vital Statistics (DSHS) in Austin is another option for birth and death certificates. On the order form, state that the certificate is for an apostille.

International Manufacturing in Plum Creek and Beyond

Kyle’s industrial base includes companies tied to global supply chains. ENF Technology, a South Korea-based supplier of electronic materials, announced plans in 2019 for a U.S. headquarters and manufacturing facility in Kyle’s Plum Creek development, with Samsung Austin Semiconductor named as its main customer.

Employers with cross-border operations typically need apostilles for:

  • Corporate formation documents and certificates of status from the Texas Secretary of State
  • Notarized powers of attorney allowing a parent company or overseas director to sign on the local entity’s behalf
  • Employee documents, such as diplomas, marriage certificates and children’s birth certificates, for staff moving between the U.S. and the home country

South Korea is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so Texas documents headed there generally need an apostille rather than embassy legalization. If a document will go to a non-member country, such as the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait, embassy legalization is required instead.

Hays CISD and College Transcripts

Kyle students attend Hays Consolidated ISD, including Jack C. Hays High School and Lehman High School. Texas State University is just down the road in neighboring San Marcos, and Austin-area colleges are within commuting distance.

To apostille a school or college record, it must be in a form the state can authenticate:

  • An official copy or verification letter, signed by a registrar or records custodian
  • That signature notarized by a Texas notary public, with a complete notary certificate
  • The original, unaltered document mailed to us

This applies whether the record is a high school diploma for a student enrolling abroad or a bachelor’s degree for a professional license in another country.

If your school only issues electronic transcripts, ask whether it can also produce a printed, signed copy for notarization. Contact us before ordering if that option is not available.

Kyle to Austin: Handing Off the State Filing

The Texas Secretary of State’s Authentications Unit at 400 West 15th Street in Austin is the only office that issues apostilles for Texas documents. Walk-in service runs Mondays and Fridays, with appointments Tuesday through Thursday, and in-person requests are usually completed the same day. By mail, the state allows up to two weeks after receipt.

Rather than drive north on I-35 and wait in line, Kyle clients can send documents to us. Our role:

  1. Review your scans for eligibility and common errors
  2. Receive the originals by tracked mail
  3. Complete Form 2102 and submit with the state fee
  4. Return the apostilled documents to you or a foreign recipient

We do not guarantee our own turnaround times, since the state controls processing.

Personal Documents Kyle Families Commonly Apostille

Kyle is a young, family-oriented city, and the requests we see from residents reflect that. Common examples include:

  • Birth certificates for a child’s foreign passport or citizenship registration
  • Marriage certificates to register a marriage with a spouse’s home country
  • Divorce decrees from the Hays County District Clerk before remarrying abroad
  • Death certificates for settling an estate or closing accounts in another country
  • Notarized travel consent letters for minors flying internationally with one parent
  • Notarized affidavits, such as proof of address or single status

For records of births and deaths, you can choose between the Hays County Clerk and Texas Vital Statistics. Either source works for an apostille, as long as you request a certified copy rather than a photocopy or an abstract.

If you are not sure which documents your destination needs, ask the consulate or receiving authority for its written checklist and send it to us with your scans.

Records Texas Does Not Apostille

  • FBI background checks are federal documents apostilled by the U.S. Department of State. See our FBI apostille page.
  • Birth certificates from other states must be apostilled by the state that issued them.
  • Uncertified photocopies of any public record are not eligible.

If any of these apply to you, tell us at the start. We can usually coordinate a Texas apostille and a federal or out-of-state step in the same order, so all of your documents arrive at the foreign authority with the correct certificates attached. Mixing up the issuing authority is one of the most common reasons an application abroad is delayed.
