Apostille Service in Pearland, Texas
Apostille Request Form
Pearland is one of the few Houston-area cities that sits in three counties at once. Most of the city lies in Brazoria County, while smaller pieces reach north into Harris County and west into Fort Bend County. That detail matters more than people expect when a foreign government asks for an apostille, because the county that issued your record decides where you get a certified copy.
Apostille Authentications helps Pearland residents prepare Texas documents and submit them to the Texas Secretary of State. We work by mail and courier and do not keep a storefront in Pearland, so you can send documents from home and skip the drive to Austin.
This guide walks through the Pearland-specific steps: figuring out which county holds your record, where the nearby clerk offices are, and which local documents most often need an apostille.
Start With the Right County: Brazoria, Harris or Fort Bend
Before you order anything, check which county recorded the event. Your street address today does not always match the county where a birth, marriage or divorce was filed years ago.
- Brazoria County covers the bulk of Pearland, so most births, marriages and court cases from inside the city were recorded here.
- Harris County includes the northern edge of the city. Records from that strip, and anything from a Houston hospital or courthouse, are held by Harris County offices.
- Fort Bend County takes in a western portion of the city. Records filed there come from the Fort Bend County Clerk.
If you are unsure, look at the top of your existing certificate or decree. The issuing county is printed on it. A certified copy from the wrong county will simply be rejected.

Why Pearland Documents End Up Overseas
A large share of Pearland’s workforce commutes to the Texas Medical Center and other Houston job centers, and the city’s own employer list leans heavily toward health care and life sciences. Major employers named in the city’s financial reporting include Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital, HCA Pearland Medical Center, Lonza and Merit Medical, alongside Pearland ISD and Alvin ISD.
That mix produces a steady flow of international paperwork:
- Nurses, physicians and researchers sending degree and license records abroad for credential checks.
- Life sciences staff transferring to a parent or partner company overseas who need a corporate document or a power of attorney apostilled.
- Teachers recruited to international schools, who usually need a diploma, transcript and background check.
- Families registering a child’s birth or a marriage with another country’s consulate.
School and College Records From the Pearland Area
Several colleges serve different slices of the city. Alvin Community College covers the Pearland ISD and Alvin ISD areas, San Jacinto College serves the Pasadena ISD portion, and Houston City College (formerly Houston Community College) serves the Houston ISD and Fort Bend ISD portions. The University of Houston-Clear Lake also runs a campus inside Pearland.
To apostille a diploma or transcript in Texas, the registrar or another school official usually signs the record in front of a notary, and the Secretary of State then authenticates that notary’s commission. High school records from Pearland ISD follow the same pattern. Ask the school for a notarized copy rather than a plain printout, because an unsigned transcript cannot be apostilled.
How the Texas Apostille Works for a Pearland File
Every Texas apostille passes through the Authentications Unit of the Texas Secretary of State in Austin. Here is how a typical Pearland request moves:
- Get the right original. Order a fresh certified copy from the correct county clerk or from Texas Vital Statistics at DSHS. On a DSHS order, choose “Apostille” as the reason for the request.
- Tell us the destination country. The country decides whether you need an apostille or embassy legalization.
- Send the document to us. We review it, complete Form 2102, and submit it to the state.
- Receive the apostille. It is attached to your document and returned to you.
| Item | Detail |

We do not guarantee our own completion dates, since the state controls its queue. See our Texas apostille service page for more on the state process.
Background Checks and Countries That Want Legalization
Two exceptions catch many Pearland clients off guard. First, an FBI Identity History Summary is a federal record, so the U.S. Department of State issues its apostille, not Texas. Our FBI apostille service covers that route.
Second, countries outside the Hague Apostille Convention, such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, require embassy legalization instead of an apostille. Check our list of countries that accept an apostille before you order copies.
Pearland Apostille FAQ
I live in Pearland but my child was born in a Houston hospital. Which county do I use?
Use the county where the birth was registered, which for a Houston hospital is normally Harris County. You can also order the certificate from Texas Vital Statistics and list Apostille as the reason.
Can I get a Brazoria County birth certificate without driving to Angleton?
Yes. The Brazoria County Clerk lists a Recording and Vitals substation at 2436 S. Grand Blvd in Pearland. Call (281) 412-3399 first to confirm what it can issue that day.
My divorce was finalized in Brazoria County. Who issues the certified copy?
Divorce decrees come from the Brazoria County District Clerk in Angleton, not the County Clerk. Ask for a certified copy, since a plain photocopy cannot be apostilled.
Do you have an office in Pearland where I can drop off documents?
No. We serve Pearland clients by mail and courier and submit their documents to the Texas Secretary of State in Austin.
Does a UHCL Pearland diploma need anything before the apostille?
Usually it needs to be notarized by a university official, or you can request a notarized copy through the registrar. The state then authenticates the notary’s signature.
