Apostille Service in Allen, Texas
Apostille Request Form
Allen sits immediately south of McKinney, the Collin County seat, so most of the records an Allen resident would send abroad were created a few miles up U.S. 75. What residents often lack is the final step: getting those records authenticated by the State of Texas so a foreign government, university, or employer will accept them.
That final step is what we do. Apostille Authentications works with Allen clients entirely by mail and courier. We check your documents, assemble the request, and lodge it with the Texas Secretary of State. We are not located in Allen and do not run a Texas walk-in office; you ship to us, and we ship the authenticated documents back.
Why Allen Residents Need Documents Authenticated for Use Abroad
Allen’s economic development corporation describes its key industries as financial services and insurance, information technology, telecommunications and data centers, electronics, and corporate headquarters. Major employers in the city include Experian, Jack Henry & Associates, Motorola Solutions, NetScout Systems, Credit Union of Texas, Crawford and Company, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, according to published employer data.
Several Allen firms have also been bought by larger or international groups. Christie Digital Systems acquired Allen-based Brass Roots Technologies, Refinitiv acquired GIACT, and Netflix acquired Boss Fight Entertainment. Deals and cross-border teams like these tend to generate paperwork such as:
- Notarized powers of attorney and board resolutions for use with a foreign parent company or bank
- Texas certificates of formation or good standing for a new overseas entity
- Personal records for engineers and managers taking assignments outside the United States
- Degree verifications for professionals applying for foreign work permits or licenses
Families add their own reasons: a dual-citizenship application, a wedding planned in Europe, adopting from overseas, or retiring abroad. Each of these generally starts with a certified Texas record that must carry an apostille.
Collin County Offices That Issue Allen Records
Allen lies wholly inside Collin County, which keeps things simple: one county clerk for vital records and one district clerk for court files. Both are located on Bloomdale Road in McKinney.
| Office | What you get there | Location and contact |
|---|---|---|
| Collin County Clerk, Vital Records | Certified birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage licenses | 2300 Bloomdale Rd., McKinney, TX 75071. Tel. (972) 548-4185. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. |
| Collin County District Clerk | Certified divorce decrees, adoption and name change orders, other district court judgments | 2100 Bloomdale Rd., Suite 12132, McKinney, TX 75071. Tel. (972) 548-4320. Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office’s request form lists a $5 fee per certification. |
From most Allen neighborhoods the drive north is short. If you would rather not go, Collin County takes vital records requests online through a portal linked from its birth certificate page, and the District Clerk’s site explains how to request court copies. A Plano branch of the County Clerk exists, but the county has posted that it is closed until further notice because of flooding, so confirm its status first.
Births can also be ordered from Texas Vital Statistics (DSHS). Choose “Apostille” as the purpose on the DSHS form so the state knows the copy is headed for authentication.
Whichever source you use, keep the certified copy intact. Do not laminate it, remove staples, or write on it, since the Secretary of State has to see the issuing official’s signature and seal exactly as they were applied. If your copy is several years old, some foreign agencies prefer a recently issued one, so ask the recipient before ordering.
School and College Records for Allen Graduates
Allen ISD serves nearly the whole city and graduates its students from a single campus, Allen High School; small pockets of Allen are zoned to Lovejoy, McKinney, or Plano ISD. Collin College runs a dual-credit campus inside Allen High School and a Technical Campus in west Allen that opened in 2020 for workforce programs.
Graduates applying to universities overseas, or teaching English abroad, are often told to apostille a diploma, transcript, or certificate. Texas will only authenticate a signature it can verify, which in practice means a notary’s commission or the signature of a public official. Most schools handle this by having a registrar sign an affidavit or certification in front of a notary. Send us a scan first and we will let you know whether your document is ready or needs that extra notarization.
The Allen Apostille Process, Step by Step
- Tell us the destination. The country decides everything else. Our list of Hague member countries shows whether an apostille or embassy legalization applies.
- Order the certified record. Use the Collin County offices above or the state, depending on the document.
- Send it to us with a trackable service. Include a note of where the finished document should be returned.
- We review and submit. We complete the state’s paperwork and deliver it to the Secretary of State’s Authentications Unit.
- Return shipment. Once Austin attaches the apostille, the document comes back to the address you gave us.

Federal Records and Non-Hague Destinations
Two situations fall outside the Texas process. First, an FBI Identity History Summary is a federal record, so its apostille comes from the U.S. Department of State; our FBI apostille page covers it. Second, countries that have not joined the Hague Convention, such as the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, require embassy legalization rather than an apostille. If your foreign recipient also needs the document in another language, ask about translation services.
Questions from Allen Clients
Is Allen entirely in Collin County?
Yes. Allen is located in Collin County, so birth, death, and marriage records for events in Allen come from the Collin County Clerk, and divorce decrees come from the Collin County District Clerk, both on Bloomdale Road in McKinney.
Can my employer's notarized power of attorney be apostilled in Texas?
Yes, if it was notarized by a Texas notary public. The Secretary of State authenticates the notary's signature and commission. Documents notarized in another state must be apostilled by that state instead.
Will a photocopy of my Allen High School diploma work?
A plain photocopy will not. The document needs a verifiable signature, usually a notary's. Many schools arrange for a registrar to sign a statement before a notary, which can then be apostilled by Texas.
Do I need to visit McKinney in person to get my records?
No. Collin County accepts vital records requests online, and the District Clerk accepts written requests for certified court copies. You can also order birth records from Texas Vital Statistics.
Does Apostille Authentications have an Allen location?
No. We serve Allen clients by mail and courier and submit documents to the Texas Secretary of State in Austin. We do not have an office in any Texas city.
