Apostille Service in Bryan, Texas
Apostille Request Form
Bryan has been the seat of Brazos County since 1866, when the county government moved there from Boonville. That history still shapes paperwork today: the county’s clerks, its district courts and a city-run vital statistics office all sit within Bryan city limits. If a foreign consulate, university or employer has asked you for an apostilled Texas record, there is a good chance the original starts in downtown Bryan.
Apostille Authentications prepares those records and submits them to the Texas Secretary of State on your behalf. We do not run an office in Bryan. Clients send documents to us by mail or courier, and we return the finished apostilles the same way.
Two Vital Records Counters in One City
Bryan is unusual because residents can order a birth certificate from either the city or the county, and the two offices keep different records. Picking the right one saves a second trip.
| City of Bryan Vital Statistics | Brazos County Clerk, Vital Records | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | 300 S. Texas Ave., Bryan, TX 77803 | 300 E. 26th St., Suite 1430, Bryan, TX 77803 |
| Phone | (979) 209-5007 | (979) 361-4124 |
| Births | Certified copies for any Texas birth; long-form originals for Bryan births after 1969 | Certified birth certificates; holds older Bryan originals from before 1969 |
| Deaths | Deaths inside Bryan city limits only | Certified death certificates |
| Marriage | Not listed | Certified copies of marriage records |
| Posted hours | Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. | Call ahead |
Both offices list a certified birth certificate at $23. Whichever counter you use, ask for the full certified copy. Some countries reject the short abstract form, so the long form is the safer choice when a consulate has not said otherwise. You can also order from Texas Vital Statistics (DSHS) in Austin; when you do, select “Apostille” as the reason for the request.
Court Papers from the Brazos County District Clerk
Divorce decrees, name-change orders, adoption decrees and other district court judgments are kept by the Brazos County District Clerk, reachable at (979) 361-4230. People in Bryan usually need these when:
- remarrying in another country, where the registrar wants proof the earlier marriage ended;
- updating a foreign passport or national ID after a legal name change;
- completing an international adoption or custody matter.
Order a certified copy from the clerk. The Texas Secretary of State checks the clerk’s signature and seal, so a copy from your lawyer’s file, even a clean one, will not be accepted.
Schools Based in Bryan
Education is a large part of Bryan’s economy. Bryan ISD, founded in 1877, and Blinn College, whose Bryan campus sits minutes from Texas A&M, are both among the area’s larger employers. Texas A&M’s RELLIS Campus is also listed among Bryan institutions.
Documents from these schools that often need an apostille:
- Teaching certificates and service records for Bryan ISD teachers recruited by international schools.
- Blinn College transcripts and associate degree diplomas for students transferring to universities overseas.
- High school diplomas requested by foreign universities or visa offices.
School documents are private records in the eyes of the state. They need a notarized signature from a registrar or authorized official before Texas will apostille them. Ask the school’s records office for a notarized copy, and confirm the notary’s name, commission number and expiration date are legible.
Business Documents for Bryan Companies
Bryan’s larger employers include Reynolds and Reynolds, CHI St. Joseph Health and Sanderson Farms, alongside the schools above. Local businesses of every size sometimes need corporate paperwork recognized abroad, for example:
- certificates of formation or good standing for a foreign bank account or distributor agreement;
- powers of attorney signed in Bryan for a property sale overseas;
- notarized invoices, commercial letters or employment verifications.
Some business destinations, such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention. Those countries require embassy legalization, which is a different process; our authentication service covers both paths.
Notarized Papers Signed in Bryan
Not every Bryan document comes from a government counter. Affidavits, consent letters for a child traveling abroad, single-status declarations and powers of attorney are private papers that a Bryan resident signs in front of a notary. Texas will apostille them, but only when the notarization itself is in order.
Before you hand one over, look for these points:
- A complete notarial certificate. The wording should show it was an acknowledgment or a sworn statement, with the county (Brazos) and date filled in.
- The notary’s seal showing the name, commission number and expiration date, all readable.
- A commission that is still active on the date of signing. An expired commission is one of the most common reasons the state returns a request.
- Original ink signatures. Scans and photocopies of a notarized page are not accepted.
Some foreign offices also dictate the exact wording of a power of attorney or ask for it in their language. If so, prepare the final text first, sign it in Bryan before the notary, and then send it to us. We check the notary block before filing so problems surface early rather than after a trip to Austin and back.
State Fees and Filing Details
Every Bryan record that came from a Texas office or a Texas notary is apostilled by the Authentications Unit of the Texas Secretary of State, located at 400 West 15th Street in Austin.
- State fee: $15 for each document.
- Our fee: $195 for each document, on top of the state’s $15.
- State processing by mail: up to two weeks after the Secretary of State receives the package.
- State counter in Austin: same-day processing for in-person filings; walk-ins are taken Monday and Friday, appointments Tuesday through Thursday.
- Request form: the state uses Form 2102.
We cannot promise a delivery date, because the state controls its own queue. Our pricing page lists shipping options. FBI background checks are different: they are federal documents apostilled by the U.S. Department of State.
Bryan Residents Ask
Can the City of Bryan give me a birth certificate if I was born in Houston?
Yes. The City of Bryan Vital Statistics office says it can issue certified birth certificates for anyone born in Texas, not only people born in Bryan. Out-of-state certificates are not available there.
My father died in Bryan. Which office has the death certificate?
The City of Bryan issues death certificates for deaths inside Bryan city limits. The Brazos County Clerk also issues certified death certificates for the county.
Where do I get my Brazos County marriage record?
The Brazos County Clerk’s vital records office on East 26th Street issues certified copies of marriage records.
Will a Blinn College diploma be accepted for an apostille as is?
Usually not. The state needs a notarized document, so ask Blinn’s records office for a notarized copy or a notarized registrar statement before sending it.
Do I need an appointment in Austin?
Not if you use us. You mail the documents, and we handle the Secretary of State filing and return shipping.
