Apostille Service in Tyler, Texas

Apostille Request Form

Health care is the backbone of Tyler’s job market. The city’s two largest employers are CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System and UT Health East Texas, and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler adds teaching and research. When nurses, physicians, therapists and lab scientists trained or licensed in Tyler accept positions overseas, the foreign licensing board almost always asks for apostilled credentials.

Apostille Authentications gets those Texas apostilles for clients in Tyler and across Smith County. We handle everything by mail and courier; there is no Apostille Authentications office in Tyler, and you do not need one to use our service.

Credentials for Tyler's Health Care Workforce

Overseas hospitals and licensing authorities usually want proof of education, licensure and identity. For a Tyler clinician, that list often looks like this:

  • Nursing or medical school diploma, notarized by the school’s registrar.
  • Official transcript, also notarized at the source.
  • Employment verification letter from a Tyler hospital, signed before a Texas notary.
  • Birth certificate and, if a spouse is relocating too, a marriage certificate.
  • FBI background check, which follows a separate federal route through the U.S. Department of State. Our FBI apostille service covers it.

The Texas Secretary of State does not judge the content of a letter or diploma. It confirms that the notary or public official who signed it is genuine. That is why getting a valid notarization at the start matters more than anything else.

UT Tyler, Tyler Junior College and Texas College Records

Tyler is home to the University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler Junior College and Texas College, the city’s historically Black college. Each produces graduates who later need diplomas or transcripts recognized abroad.

UT Tyler publishes a specific process. Its Office of the Registrar notarizes official transcripts and official duplicate diplomas at no extra charge, but you must arrange it ahead of time:

  1. Email Transcripts@uttyler.edu to request an appointment with a university official.
  2. Allow at least two business days, and more if your deadline is tight.
  3. Attend in person with the documents; the registrar’s page says students must be present.
  4. For a diploma, order a replacement through the Diploma Reorder Request first, which stretches the timeline to roughly four to six weeks.
  5. For transcripts ordered through Parchment, choose local pickup so the registrar can notarize before release.

Details are on UT Tyler’s apostille policy page. For Tyler Junior College or Texas College, contact the registrar’s office and ask for a notarized transcript or a notarized statement verifying your degree.

Smith County Clerk Offices in Downtown Tyler

Tyler is the Smith County seat, so county records are close by. One wrinkle: the County Clerk’s website says it is the local registrar for births and deaths that occurred outside Tyler city limits. It is also a Remote Birth Access Site, which means it can print certified birth certificates for people born elsewhere in Texas.

If you were born inside Tyler city limits, the Remote Birth Access service or a DSHS order are straightforward ways to get a certified copy. Always request a certified copy; uncertified or keepsake versions cannot be apostilled.

Tyler Businesses Selling or Working Abroad

Beyond medicine, Tyler’s major employers include Trane Technologies, Brookshire Grocery Company, Sanderson Farms and John Soules Foods. The city is also known for its rose and landscape nursery industry. Local companies with foreign customers, suppliers or subsidiaries sometimes need:

  • a certificate of formation or good standing for a foreign registry or bank;
  • a notarized power of attorney appointing an agent abroad;
  • notarized commercial documents requested by a buyer’s government.

When the buyer is in a non-Hague country such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar or Kuwait, the papers need embassy legalization rather than an apostille. Our authentication service page explains both options.

Why Tyler Requests Get Returned

The Texas Secretary of State rejects documents for a handful of predictable reasons. Knowing them in advance keeps a Tyler request moving:

  • A non-certified vital record. Hospital birth souvenirs and photocopies of a birth certificate do not qualify. Only a certified copy from the Smith County Clerk, another Texas registrar or DSHS works.
  • A university document with no notary. A UT Tyler or Tyler Junior College transcript has to be notarized at the registrar’s office first.
  • A notary signature with problems. Missing seals, expired commissions and incomplete certificates are frequent causes of rejection.
  • A document from outside Texas. A birth certificate from Louisiana or Oklahoma, for example, must be apostilled by that state, even if you now live in Tyler.
  • A federal record sent to Austin. FBI reports and other federal documents go to the U.S. Department of State, not the Texas Secretary of State.

We review every item for these issues before it goes to the state, which reduces the chance of a returned package. If something needs to be reissued, we tell you which Tyler office or school to contact.

What the State Charges and How Long It Takes

Smith County documents, like all Texas records, are apostilled by the Authentications Unit of the Texas Secretary of State at 400 West 15th Street in Austin.

  • The state’s fee is $15 per document.
  • Our fee is $195 per document, with the $15 state fee added.
  • The state says mail-in requests take up to two weeks once received.
  • At its Austin counter, the state processes in-person filings the same day, seeing walk-ins Monday and Friday and appointments Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Requests use the state’s Form 2102.

Those times belong to the state; we do not guarantee our own completion dates. See the pricing page for shipping choices.
