Divorce Decrees and Court Orders Filed in Different Counties

- Cases from another state: those must be apostilled by that state, not Texas.
Ask for a certified copy signed by the clerk. The apostille authenticates that clerk’s signature, so a plain copy or a notarized photocopy will not work.

- Gather the right copy. Vital and court records must be certified copies less than five years old; school and business papers must be notarized.

- Submit with Form 2102. We file it with the Authentications Unit, Texas Secretary of State, 400 West 15th Street, Austin, TX 78701.
- State review. The state charges $15 per document. By mail, allow up to two weeks after receipt. In person, requests are completed same day, with walk-ins Monday and Friday and appointments Tuesday through Thursday.
